Donald W. Shepherd was the featured speaker for the Historical Society of Bay County’s November 2019, presentation. Mr. Sheppard chronicled the history of the US Navy Lab on Saint Andrew Bay. Don Shepherd was born and raised in southern Mississippi. He was employed as a physicist by the Navy’s Mine Defense Laboratory in Panama City, Florida. Don is the author of “The Early Years of the ‘Navy Lab’ at Panama City, A History (1945-1956)”. He has written many other books. His topics have ranged from military history to saltwater fishing.
