On January 27th, 2020, Martha Spiva provided a very engaging presentation on the history of Harbor Pilots on St. Andrew Bay. Martha has chronicle the history of this very dangerous and fascinating occupation on our local waters. Martha’s late husband, Ernest, was born into a family with a rich history of piloting ships into safe harbor. His father and grandfather served as “bar pilots,” as they were known in the day. Martha, too, is well steeped in bar pilot history and has provided a very interesting presentation.
