Our Mission

The purpose of the Society shall be to serve present and future generations by collecting, preserving and sharing artifacts, documents and images pertaining to the unique culture and history of Bay County and its environs, assist in the preservation of historic sites within the county; and to operate the Bay County History Museum as an educational resource for the public, a repository for its collections and a place to present exhibits and educational programs.

Employees and volunteers of the Bay County Historical Society are engaged in promoting the understanding of how history enriches and helps guide our lives. They work to further the institutional mission to “preserve our history and make it accessible to everyone in ways that advance knowledge and inspire curiosity about all the people, places, and events that have shaped Bay County.” Working toward this common goal is the responsibility of all staff and volunteers.
