Join us, on Jan. 27 at 7 pm, as Martha Costin Spiva presents an engaging lecture on the Harbor Pilots of St. Andrew Bay in Bell Hall at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1415 Airport Rd, Panama City. Martha will chronicle the history of this very dangerous and fascinating occupation on our local waters. Martha’s late husband, Ernest, was born into a family with a rich history of piloting ships into safe harbor. His father and grandfather served as “bar pilots”, as they were known in the day. Martha, too, is well steeped in bar pilot history and will provide a very interesting presentation.
