Books by Local Authors

Our book selection is anchored with the historical writings of Marlene Womack.  Her first work, Along the Bay, set the standard for local history.

Marlene Womack (1940-2017) was a historian at heart who loved the Panama City area.  She was married for 45 years to Loy Womack and together they raised three sons: Michael Andrew, Matthew Jesse, and Fred.  They collectively gave her three grandchildren: Ally, Andrew, and Di Anna Rene.

In her retirement, she donated her time to both the Bay County Genealogy Society and the Historical Society of Bay County, which demonstrated her devotion to both history and the area.  She was a prolific writer with 35 years as the “Out of the Past” columnist at the Panama City News Herald.  She also made significant contributions to Bay County, Florida, through her writings that included nine books on its history.

The Arcadia Press series, Images of America, is available at the HSBC Museum. These volumes use archival photographs to celebrate the history of communities across America.  Many of our local communities and cities are highlighted in these books. More Bay County Authors books are also  available and include a variety of historical subject matter. All the books by local authors  present an enjoyable trip down memory lane.

A $5.00 shipping fee is added to online sales for destinations within the U.S.
